contents page

The first thing I like about this contents page is the colour scheme. The greens really stand out from the black red and white. Also the smaller images give a quick and clear look at the articles and what to expect. I like this detail as it gives the reader an incite into the articles and therefore attracting them to want to read on. The main sell line along with the rest of the sell lines break up the page effectively, this also makes the contents list stand out more as it is separated from this making it easier to navigate and see. Also how the contents is split up into different section e.g. New, Studio News gives a clear look and breakup of the section. Furthermore the contents titles are all in capitals, standing out more and being more clear allowing people to see them as well as page numbers being bold to show people the pages to find each article clearly, making the magazine as a whole easier to navigate. The subscription along the bottom gives some information on how to subscribe as well as deals and offers making people want to subscribe in order to get the deals and therefore the magazine. i really like this idea as it gives the readers more reason to want to buy the magazine as it gives them something back such as deals and offers that they will enjoy. the masthead is very appealing as the logo still stands out, but the "this week" in bold white writing on the black boarder adds to this and in my opinion the way the it is worded is very appealing, giving an overview of the full week making me as eel as other readers excited to see what its about.
This is a very different layout but one that is very appealing and eye catching as the main articles have an image allowing the reader to see the artist or topic clearly pushing them to read it. the quotes from the articles give a preview of what to expect and this once again will make the reader want to read it as it may contain a little humor or controversy or even talking about new/old albums. Also under each quote there is a line or two of writing giving a brief description of the article giving readers an idea of what the topic of the article will be about or by using word play to add more suspense on what its about. The colors are very bland and basic but this adds to the appeal as this way the images, text and color of the numbers stand out even more, popping of the page and attracting the eye. the masthead does not contain the logo, but it does contain the date which i like but at the same time i would prefer to have a logo, even if it was small to allow the readers to know the magazine. Once again NME has used the same subscription design, this time using a bright red to stand out as well as using images of past front covers to show new readers the quality of their magazines.
A third contents page i looked like and liked the design is of a Q magazine that featured the Foo Fighters as main image and the design fits and works around this. i like how the main image has a lot of attitude about it, this also gives the page a nice layout as the contents list is around this image, as well as other smaller images, with the page numbers making it quick and easy to find articles. The logo is located and easily seen in the top left corner as well as an issue number, this allows readers to see the magazine name and make easily as well as knowing what issue they are up to if they want to buy it weekly.
