The reece

the ‘recce’

Provide answers in paragraph form to the questions below that

are relevant to your production.

1.    Are there any potential hazards that could pose a health and safety risk where your photo shoot will take place (trailing cables/traffic/other objects )? Inside the room there is no trailing wires that I know of so there are little risks inside. On the way to the site there is many main roads so traffic may cause a problem if there is heavy traffic.
2.    What will you do to ensure these risks are minimised? I will check there are no wires or cables when I go to take my photos I will do a quick check off the room to ensure there is no trailing wires and I will go at a time between 9:30 and 11:30 so that I miss the heavier traffic.
3.    Will the time of day/weather affect the outcome of the photos? Have you allowed for this? I don’t think the time of day and the weather will have an affect on my photo shoot, as I will most likely be doing my photos in door. If I decide to change my setting to outside to get a different effect then this may cause problems.
4.    Have you considered the background to your photos, particularly if taken outside? How will you ensure you will get the background you want? I am looking to use a white background or a brick wall. If I use the white background this will be so that I can use different lighting and effects, but if I use the brick wall I will have to rely on natural lighting.
5.    Have you considered lighting? What about the ‘problems’ of natural lighting, either outside, or streaming through a window? Will you need to use a flash? Have you considered reflective objects that might spoil the effect?  If I decide to take my photos outside against a brick wall, natural lighting, weather will determine how well the photos come out and whether or not I will have to use a flash or a different setting.
6.    Do you need permission to take photos in the place/venue you have in mind? If I take my photos in a studio I will need permission to do so and will have to get this from the college or university who owns the room. On the other hand if I do the photos outside it will depend whether or not I need permission as it maybe on public property and therefore will not need permission.
7.    Do you need to book time in a room (eg the photography studio at Shiney)? I will need to book a time that is suitable and fits the availability of my model, the room times and me.
8.    Are other people/crowds likely to be an issue for you? What have you done to ensure that it will not spoil the effect? Other people will not be a problem as if I book the studio it will only be my model and me in the room. If I do it outside people walking past may cause a bit of a problem but not too much where it will stop the process all together.
9.    Are you reliant on lifts/props/friends’ equipment/models? How have you planned that these things will come together at the appointed time? Plan B? I am going to use some props but if they don’t go to plan then I am not that reliant on them where it would stop or ruin my photos. I have made sure I have the props ahead of time so that they are ready. For a plan b I will either try to use a different prop or none at all, which I would still be ok with.

10. Finally, have you thought of every eventuality…? I think I have but some things may happen on the day, which I cannot help or may happen unexpectedly, and if so I will have to find away to work around these.
